My son decided to start carving his Halloween pumpkin before there was adult supervision and ended up stabbing himself in the thigh. I heard the screams and the yelling. After some frantic minutes and lots of blood we rushed him to the hospital where they sewed him up with five stitches. He recovered fully. Reflecting on this rather rare experience of blood and panic I wanted to do a painting that captured the moment as well as present how lucky we are that we do not have too much terror in our suburban home in the midwest. I wonder what fathers and mothers must feel in the Mideast countries like Iraq or Isreal.
