“Nude with Still Life” 2003 Oil 24 x 48 by Tom Kelly
This is an oil painting that combines at the time recent interest in cubism and "Still Life" paintings with a nude female. The challenges that this type of painting presents was of interest to me. In Physics some scientist argue that consciousness breaks the wave properties of matter and reality comes into existence, or at least that what some believe. In this painting the viewer much choose what to see. The bowl of fruit? The stomach muscles of the model? The bottle? The Model? the Banana or a phallic symbol? You decide! The viewer brings the reality of the art into existence. In art the push and pull of space and color creates some interesting visual experiences. Thank you Matisse for the model.
