Adam's Haircut1

“The Haircut” 24 x 30 Oil 2000 by Tom Kelly

This painting was inspired when I took my son to get his hair cut to a young pretty hairdresser. Adam became uncomfortable and end up with a goofy look on his face. The painting is a picture of four naked women cutting his hair. He is wearing an apron with teddy bears on it and in the foreground there are spray bottles along with a baby bottle of milk. The point of this painting is to capture the transition of the naked breast from a source of food to a sex object in the mind of a little boy/young man and the uneasiness of the feeling of sexual arousal for young boys
